"Cupro",a permanent cooling fiber
Cupro is a cellulosic fiber from the linter of cotton plant and produced by Asahi Kasei in Japan. Cupro is gentle on the earth through its natural and renewable origin, gentle on the body through its smooth and breathable characteristics, and gentle on the environment through its natural return by biodegradation. Cupro is definitely a fiber that gives permanent cooling, eco-friendly and silky characteristics.
Ecological Benefits
- Utilizing the unused & Eliminating the waste: The soft fiber protecting the cotton seed originally goes unused;however, the born of Bemberg Cupro® creates amazing cooling performance by effectively recycling an unutilized resource.
- Lower the concentration of CO2: The cotton plant is a renewable resource and generally planted in
Spring, flowers in fall, and harvested in November. As it grows, it absorbs CO2 from the air and then
decreases the atmospheric concentration.
- Biodegradability in soil: Cupro is biodegradable with very little environmental burden, and decomposes to its natural components in the soil.
- Low-emissions incineration: Cupro is also very gentle on earth and environment. Because of a pure cellulose, it naturally burns clean under incineration with extremely low emission of harmful gas.
Economic Pros & Cons
- (Advantage)Cooling performance allows us to use less air-conditioning during summer and lower the energy consumption.
- (Advantage)Waste recycling at Asahi Kasei Cupro Plant in Japan has risen to 100% and cellulosic waste is thermally recycled as fuel.
- (Disadvantage)more Expensive than cotton or artificial fabrics
Product Pros & Cons
- (Advantage)"Breathability"quickly absorbs and releases moisture outside.
- (Advantage)low in skin friction & low skin irritation.
- (Advantage)gentle hand touch like Silk, and washable.
